Our Story
Founded in 2019 by brothers Ron and Steve Abbo along with Pete Najjar, Crack Taco Shop was born from a simple idea: bring the legendary "Cardiff Crack" tri-tip that San Diego has loved to authentic Mexican cuisine. What started as a single location in Mission Valley has grown into San Diego's most addictive taco destination, with our second location opening in the scenic Seaport Village in 2023.
Our founders weren't new to the San Diego food scene. Through their connection to Cardiff's beloved Seaside Market, they had witnessed firsthand how the famous burgundy pepper tri-tip had captivated locals for decades. The challenge was taking this cult-favorite ingredient and showcasing it in a way that honored both its heritage and authentic Mexican culinary traditions.
